Student Rep
So, I've been dubbed Student Rep for Cherry Hill Pagan Seminary.

This means I'm the point of contact between students and the administration/staff/faculty. Communicating official decisions to the student body, communicating student concerns to the administration and faculty. Getting the students to communicate at all seems to have been a problem in the past- there's a forum off the website, and another on the Moodle classroom site, but neither show a lot of activity. We'll see what I can do. I'm also planning on creating an LJ community (I can't find one for CHS students).

I think I may see if I can inveigle my fellow student ravenrose into doing a presentation with me on CHS at FSG. Also need to get some flyers to Sacred Space (which I can't attend) and Ecumenicon (which I might be able to).

How I got this position: I met a number of CHS faculty at Between the Worlds; one of them was M. Macha NightMare. When I told her how great I thought CHS was, she mentioned that the position was opening up. When I emailed the current holder to ask about what it entailed, she said basically "Good! You've got the job!" I was a little taken aback, but I decided to take it as guidance and accepted.

I "attended" my first meeting last night- it was a conference call. I think I prefer chat sessions, but we'll see.

You just like chat sessions better because you can sit in the back and joke around with Natasha! ;-)

Congratulations! I think. :)

I got a volunteer position (program director) in a similar fashion back in September. I called the person to ask what the position entailed, and somehow ended up with it by the end of the phone call.

Showing interest = volunteering in some case, yep.

I'm going to Sacred Space, if all I have to do is put flyers somewhere, I can do that.

that would be cool. i will see if i can get them to ship me some...

Silly Hugh, you should know better not to ask about a position if you aren't willing to take it. ;)

Congrats tho'. Sounds like you have some great ideas.

thanks. we'll see how it goes...

I know you will be a wonderful bridge between the faculty and students. You're an easy to talk to, trustable fellow, and I hope it brings you and your fellow students lots of positive interactions. :)
