per amica silentia lunae

or, across the ferny brae with the evil voodoo celt

I was in the back yard of a house- probably the one that my family had during the first 14 years of my life, when I saw a "fox". It was one of those dream certainties; I knew it was a fox, even though it looked very little like one- it was at least vaguely vulpine around the face, but was too large (more medium-large dog sized), had a shaggy coat that was black or dark brown on top and tan on the bottom.

I chased it into the woods behind the house. I wasn't interested in catching it, or chasing it away- I was just curious to see what would happen. It just seemed to be the thing to do.

The woods were like the local ones get in winter- leafless trees (fairly widely spaced), not a lot of undergrowth, lots of fallen leaves; the colors were all greys and browns.

The fox ran from me, but not in a panicked way- it kept slowing down, looking behind itself, then speeding up again when it saw I was still chasing it. It didn't seem to be doing this to lead me on or play with me- it just was expending the right amount of effort to stay out of my reach.

I realized that the only way I could catch it would be to tackle it, which seemed like a bad idea. I stopped chasing it- not because I was winded, but (once again) because it seemed to be the right thing to do at the time. I was mildly worried about finding my way back to the house, but fairly confident I could do it with a little time and effort.

The fox ran for a while, then stopped at the verge of another clearing (possibly the yard of another house). It stood there, looking back at me curiously, like it was wondering why I had stopped. I wondered whether it would follow me as I went back to the house.

...then monsteralice woke me up so I could move my car and let hers out of the driveway...

hehehehe foxes play..maybe earn one more tails..

I wonder where trickster was leading you....Fox appearing in dreams usually means a quickening of your physical and mental responses to any problem that you may have to face in your chosen quest on the lifepath, and that you will experience an increase in your intuitive abilities.

I can see where that will be helpful in the next few years...

I saw your fox when I was coming home from the barn today. :)

Really? Same coloration?

Even if not, a synchronicity...

Okay, it was a real world fox instead of a dream fox. He didn't seem too concerned with me as he trotted across the road.

My immediate interpretation was taht you see something(s) in your life leading you somewhere if you choose to follow. It wasn't an all out imperative to follow nor the promise of doom if you don't. Just a possible path to something opeing up before you. Since you are doing just that it could just be your mind putting that in order.

I saw your fox on my way into work this morning... though I think it had become a little more fox-like. It worried me, cause it was wandering along a somewhat major road (Intersection of 123 and 95 down in Woodbridge).

curiouser and curiouser...
