Larry Tait
My friend and co-worker Larry Tait had a massive heart attack last Saturday. He died this morning.

He was a wonderful person... I knew and worked with him for almost 25 years. He cared deeply and laughed a lot. He was a man of infinite jest, but nobody's fool. He was smart, wise, diligent, scrupulous and honorable. He ran his department like a family, full of love and laughter and the occasional spat; he brought life and joy to the office.

He went out of his way to help me on a number of occasions, and his insight and experience helped me so many times. He was an ideal colleague and a dear friend. He and I had this running joke- he'd say something outrageous and I would stick my head around the corner (or, more recently, pop it up over the cubicle wall) and give him a look, and he'd say "What?". And we'd laugh.

Gods, I'll miss him.

Ave atque vale, Larry. Safe journey and peace.
