There was once a man named Charles Stokes who worked here at Close Up. He did our hotel deliveries, and a lot of other things. He was a gem- quiet, unassuming, cheerful, and endlessly helpful. He was a veteran, and had a definite but not arrogant dignity to him- he was always "Charles", never "Charlie". He loved our mission, and went out of his way to support it.

He died a couple of years ago, and we all mourned. To memorialize him, the Foundation created an award in his name, given to people whose behind-the-scenes contributions give us and our mission the kind of support that he once did.

So, at the last general staff meeting, imagine my reaction when this happened:

that's our CEO with me in the second pic

I feel overwhelmingly honored.

Congratulations! I'm glad you are as appreciated as you deserve to be:-)

YAY! Congratulations!

Well suited award... I know how hard you work and how much love you have for the Foundation.. well done!

That's wonderful! Congratulations for the recognition for your many years of devotion and service!

Hooray! Congratulations!

Wow! Congrats!! You've earned it.

I am late to this party - I have not been on LJ in some time, but have to say that it does not surprise me a bit that they found you most deserving. You've always been a wonderful behind the scenes helper at heart. :) Be proud!

Thank you!

Don't worry about being late... it took me nearly two months to get the pix and get this post up. ;-)
