Save Bracken Bat Cave!
Bracken Cave, the world's largest gathering of bats, is a breathtaking wonder of nature. In 2005, I was fortunate enough to witness the twilight emergence of the cave's millions of bats, and it is a memory that will stay with me for the rest of my life. Wonderful...

But now Galo Properties wants to site a development right next to it- a development that would house up to 10,000 people! Not only would this endanger the bats (and the multimillion dollars of pest control that they provide annually for Texas agriculture), this site could have disastrous effects on the Edwards Aquifer recharge zone (vital to the water supply in the area) and could harm the Golden-cheeked Warblers (an endangered species) that live in the area.

Please sign the petition asking San Antonino's Mayor to block this development!

That is one of the best things in San Antonio, AND it's currently on the "Visit Texas" commercial on the Travel channel.

Yeah... I mean really, what are they thinking?

When I signed I commented on this very thing, citing not only agricultural benefits of the bats, but also the tourist dollars they bring into the local economy!!
