Solitude and Leadership
Solitude and Leadership.

I think this might be of special interest to the_smith_e and tacnukesoul, but a lot of others on my flist will get something out of this... there are insights that stretch beyond the area of leadership...

Ironic that I should discover this profound lecture in the very social media that he is railing against. Thank you.

You're welcome.

I think that LJ is not quite the distraction he means, but I get your point...

Nice read - thanks for the link!

I love this. The irony is this is the type of article that would be read or passed out in classes at my old job at the Defense Acquisition University. Upper management would supposedly encourage this sort of thing but constantly cram more course material into less time, dumb down the content, and make the tests so easy even I could pass them without taking the classes.

It also makes me sad to read it because I am an "independent-thinker" and believe I have "found myself" as described in the article. Sadly, I also feel like there is no place in the world for me because of it. Only excellent sheep fit in.

He almost lost me at the beginning.
"Solitude is what you have the least of here, especially as plebes. You don’t even have privacy, the opportunity simply to be physically alone, never mind solitude, the ability to be alone with your thoughts. "
If you can't be alone with your thoughts anytime, anywhere, you don't know how to think in the first place.

As it went on I liked it better, but he grossly underestimates the power of the forces of conformity.
