Writer's Block: Long Nights, Short Poems
It's the winter solstice in the Northern hemisphere, summer solstice in the Southern hemisphere, and Haiku Day in the U.S. Does that inspire you to write a three-line poem with five syllables in the first and last lines and seven in the middle line?

On this shortest day,
The sun rises in my heart-
Love conquers the dark.

Urge to write haiku
Comes to me on many days
Not just on solstice

Winter solstice means
It is extactly 6 months
Until my birthday :)

Darkness is a cloak.
The land rests sleeping, dormant
Waiting for new light.
