Revels blessing
I went to the Washington Christmas Revels today. There was French-Canadian music, amazing step-dancing, killer high-speed morris sword-dancing, even a flying canoe...

But more importantly, the Revels is always our season-opener, a way to kick things off with a good dose of joy and light... "to drive the dark away, to keep the year alive".

There's always a madcap dance down the aisles, into the lobby, down the stairs, all of us, cast and audience, mixed together and belting out

"Dance, dance, wherever you may be,
For I am the Lord of the Dance said he,
I'll lead you all, wherever you may be,
And I'll lead you all in the dance said he."

There's always a sung round for peace, and the seasonal invocation of The Shortest Day, and we end with the blessing of the Sussex Mummer's Carol...

It really "fills my well"... and more than that, the master of ceremonies enjoins us to take this out into the world- to send the peace and spread the joy, and try to make the place a little better, until we return next year.

And so, as part of that, I'm sending you all peace and love and joy in this time of great dark and holy light.

I've always liked the various versions of Lord of the Dance.

We went last night. It was awesome, as always. The big dance always takes me back to the first time, when I wasn't expecting it.

When I WAS still a practicing catholic, Lord of the Dance was actually one of my fav. hymns. Still is, really. ^_^

Glad you enjoyed the show! Let me tell you, every one of us on stage had an absolute BLAST putting this one together, and I think it really came across to the audience just how much fun we were having up there.

Cutting Edge brought down the house every time they went out there. A lot of the audience had never seen anything like rapper sword dance before, and it's been one of the most talked about parts of the show in the responses we've seen.

See you next year!

-The 'Priest'.

My kudos to you and all others in the cast and crew! You were wonderful!
