[mostly of interest to DC-local] Washington Christmas Revels
monsteralice and I always attend the Washington Christmas Revels every year. The Revels are "a celebration of the Winter Solstice - a masque of traditional and ritual dances, processionals, carols and drama." It's always an amazing and emotional experience, and we use it to start our Yuletide celebrations off in the best possible way.

This year, the Revels "tunes up to celebrate in French-Canadian style with Québécois singing, dancing, music and tales. Join the acclaimed Revels company (over 75 performers, ages 8-70) on this journey through the deep winter woods to the settlement of Trois Rivières, where villagers gather to greet the New Year and the legends of the Voyageurs and their Flying Canoe come to life!"

It's always a lot of fun, and very moving, too. We're going to be going to the December 14th 2pm performance, and we usually get brunch nearby first.

I sent out the Evite just recently, but I didn't have a lot of email addresses for all of you on my flist. If you would like to get the Evite, email me!

A friend in high school did the revels every year. I have lived near DC the vast majority of my life, I went to GWU for 4 years. Never saw the Revels. Would like to go. Considering going this year.
