I finally finished chapter 6 of The Sword of Light. For those who don't know, this is a fantasy novel that I first started writing over a decade ago. Then I decided it wasn't going anywhere and shelved it. Fast-forward to about a year ago, when BadKitty started discussing her novel with me... and I got to thinking... dusted it off... said to myself, "Self, that doesn't suck!", and trepidatiously sent Chapter 1 to her. And waited anxiously.

Much to my delight, she made positive, enthusiastic noises. Much to my wonder, the story took fire in my head again, mutating and refining as I revised the stuff I had written already. Then I took the plunge and started writing entirely new material for it. It's likey going to be a short novel, and I don't have the highest productivity (too lazy and easily distracted), but I'm still pretty happy with it.

Anyway, the winter months were pretty bad for me, plus I had a major LARP event to write, plus consultation on others. And Chapter 6 has a lot of exposition in it, which can be a grind to write. But it's done! Whee!

Plus I created some keen props for the LARP I'm casting in this weekend (hope they don't get rained on), and one of the characters I'm playing is my recurring Templar Vampire goetist screwhead (not a VtM vampire, by the way), who is so entertaining that I have a hard time putting his persona away when I'm done.

If I can avoid drowning, moldering, catching ill, or becoming mud-encased this weekend, it will be a bonus. We'll see.
