deboranter has a great post about the suffragists and what they went through to get the vote.

Whether you vote democratic, republican or independent party - please remember to vote. Don't waste the phenomenal effort these women went through because you hate the candidates, or its inconvenient, or hard, or boring.

History is being made.

Amen to that.

My mother has always been a big 'vote' person. She also marched in support of the ERA. (I once brought in a hat she wore in a parade for it, with all her buttons on it in support, for a history show/tell.)

She's always stressed the importance to me, that even if I have to write in a candidate, I should still vote! That single act, is one of the most powerful things I can do, and women weren't even allowed to for so long. (And yet, some people still think we should stop the 'suffraging' of woman. >.< Bet these same people are scared to death of all the DiHydrogen-Monoxide in our environment too!)
