1. How did you and larp_tech meet each other?

Ah, that was back in the olden days, back in the days before the Black Ships came. Things were better then… He and I were members of Markland, the medieval reenactment group, and met there- this was in about 1981 or 1982... The realization of our evil twin-ness came much later…

2. How did you and interactivearts meet each other?

I think the actual incident is lost in the dark backward and abysm of time. Early-mid 80's, at a LARP (maybe Newklone in Sarasota in 1986? Or at one of the Reklones?) or at a con or a Markland event. Although it wasn't 'til I'd joined his tabletop campaign (the legendary "Tara") that I really got to know him.

3. How did you and monsteralice meet each other?

We were both members of Markland (see a pattern here?) and met some time in the mid-late 1980's. She shared a house with another couple of fannish/Marklander/etc. chicks, and we were cordial acquaintances for quite some time. I thought she was gorgeous but not interested; she was dealing with (then-untreated) depression… Then, during the horrid "Bonnie Situation" period of my life, I saw her in the pool at an Intercon- in a bikini- and registered how jaw-droppingly hot she was. This image helped keep me sane during the terminal phase of abovementioned Situation, and after the dust settled and I found out that she was 1) available and 2) moving to the DC area, I started to court her. "What happened then- well, that's the play / And he wouldn't want us to give it away." ;-)

4. What was the craziest High School/College activity that you did with either larp_tech or interactivearts

Well, I didn't know either of them well in High School, so other than dressing up like medieval screwheads and whupping others with padded rattan and/or stage steel weapons, dancing, feasting and other Markland activities, not much then... As for college- I didn't go to school with either of them, so the best bet would have to be the aforementioned going to Sarasota just to play a LARP. Not very cutting edge, but my parents thought I was crazy, at least. It was my first plane trip ever, FWIW. There was also much partying, and I got laid. Most of my actual insane hijinks with them happened after I graduated.

5. What was your first Tat and why?

My first tat was of the Maya glyphs for "9 Bat". Bats have been special to me for a long time- first just as a sort of gonzo humor item, but then I started reading more about them, and there was something that fascinated me about them, a deep resonance. Eventually, I decided that Bat is essentially my underworld guide. The tat was chosen to honor that relationship, and because I love Maya glyphs and art. The number nine is one of great personal significance- three threes, something very important to the sentimental Celtic bastard part of my nature- and was added to empower the design. The tat was inked by an artist who is also a shaman, and was done at FSG, in a full-blown ritual with copal and drumming and offerings.
