The EEG was generally no problem, except that the building was closed on Saturdays so there could have been a spot of bother getting in... fortunately, my luck was good. The test itself went well enough... the place does a lot of sleep studies, so I was on a comfy bed. The electrode paste felt a bit weird, and the sequence was kind of amusing- first there were strobe lights, then the tech had me hyperventilate... if those two items + being low on sleep were going to cause me to have problems, they would have manifested long ago, I'm just sayin'. ;-) Right after the hyperventilation, he told me "Now try to go to sleep." Riiiight. I think I managed a light drowse. After that, it was time to caffienate. Yay! Ran a few errands with monsteralice, then got a badly-needed nap.

Sunday was basically uneventful, except that Mungo was a nervous wreck- fireworks and a couple of thunderstorms, poor baby. He had to have a couple of time-outs, but he's basically OK. Monday was devoted to a couple of 4th of July parties- the Fabulous Bungalow around lunchtime, and out to larp_tech's in the late afternoon. Didn't stay out very late- combo of a school night and monsteralice having to drive.

The work week was relatively uneventful, except for a minor screwup that was compounded by a lack of backup. Eesh. Oh, and I got a raise! First one in years! I've gotten a couple of bonuses in the past few years, but this makes me happier.

Still working on "Subterranean Cities" and "A Deepness in the Sky".

Twilight stretches out,
Cupping the summer night
Like a fragile treasure.
Feather-wings and finger-wings
Stitch the paling glow
Into place, but even now
The light's peak fades
Into banked, lasting heat.

Have you tried a thundershirt for Mungo? Or talk to you vet about Xanax. I wish I had known about both for Monty. Thunderstorms made him insanely nervous and there wasn't anything that helped.

He doesn't much like stuff on him. I do think the drugs idea might be worth exploring...

Congrats on the raise! Glad the EEG went well.

ratz perform the congo for you!

Here's hoping that the EEG results come back with good data. Congrats on the raise, too.

FYI, I really enjoyed "A Deepness in the Sky", as well as "A Fire Upon the Deep". There's a new book in that universe - "The Children of the Sky" - coming out in October. Can't wait. If you enjoy Vinge's stuff, you might also enjoy some of Alistair Reynolds work. (Revelation Space and the rest of the series.)
