This came to me when divalion posted the Hafiz poetry the other day:

Your mission, should you choose to accept it…

Listen, I will tell you an awful secret,
A terrible heresy, a forbidden Truth:
This life is meant to be enjoyed.
We are here to play in the Garden-
To be ourselves, only more so
To make happy and be happy, love and be loved.
(Beloved, be Love!)

Say this and damned,
Do this and be scorned,
Dare this and win!
Dance this life, grow drunken on it,
Make laughter your ally
In this alchemy.

All the biggest lies of history deny this:
Life is not meant to be suffering;
The addition of those words-
Click as tumblers fall, the lock moves,
Light shines around the edges
Of the door to Joy.

Wish I actually felt that way right now. But I'm tired, and have this really aggravating pain in my neck and shoulders and am in a generally piss-poor mood. Argh.

Beautiful ... and true. So gloriously, heart-wrenchingly true. Thank you for posting this.

May I share it with other folks?

I'm glad you like it. It's always such a wonderful gift when other people tell me that they like what I write... it's probably almost certainly lingering self-esteem issues, but even when I write something that's powerful enough to make me choke up months later, I still wonder whether anyone else ever feels that way...

May I share it with other folks?

Sure!

I still wonder whether anyone else ever feels that way...

Oh, yes. That's powerful enough - and resonant enough with how I feel - that I couldn't merely read it on the screen. I had to say it, proclaiming its truth to the empty but listening air.

Very, very good indeed...

"What are poets, but philosophers with carnal knowledge?"

Thank you for sharing your poem. Very reminiscent of the Sufi poems that so clearly illustrate simple but obscured truths. ::hugs::
