FFS!! What are they smoking and where are they getting it because I want to avoid it.

You know, for all the good technology, the Internets, and social networking have done, I think what it's done the most is increase the collective stupid. I seriously cannot believe where someone would come up with the idea that Muslims are trying to take over the US with Sharia law nor why otherwise intelligent people would for one second, go along with it. It's just mind-boggling.

In whatever the opposite of a catch-22 is, I find all the weirdo backlash kind of comforting. Anger-on-the-fringes generally indicates the last unpleasant gasps of a way of thinking that is becoming unsustainably out-dated. It's a big year for weirdo-jagoffs spouting crazy-sounding crap because we HAVE been making so much progress in terms of human rights, equality, and mind-your-own-damn-business-ism.

They're squirming because we're winning. When the shouting and death-throes finally die down (which may take another decade or two yet, but which WILL happen provided we keep up the good fight) a few more things like gay marriage and islamic paranoia will be in the dead-issues hopper with womens' right to vote and a lot of other "harbingers of the apocalypse". Other bat-shit crazy issues will have taken their place, so we may not even notice the progress as it happens, but it will happen.

The crazy isn't winning.

That's my take on it, too.
