"Despite the enormity of the task that lies ahead, I stand here today as hopeful as ever that the United States of America will endure — that it will prevail, that the dream of our founders will live on in our time."

- Barack Obama

I agree Obama does generate hope, something we probably haven't had as a society since the 80's (ok, I know, Reagan detractors don't think he generated hope, but nationally he did). I have hope he'll deliver, but I worry party politics will make him turning hope into reality very problematic.

I would be interested to hear him explain "the dream of our founders" and what he believes that to be.

Again, He's got a promising message, hopefully. We'll see where the message takes us.

IMO, Reagan was the last Republican president who was in any way admirable. He's the only GOP Prez elected during my lifetime I have any respect for...

Well, Bush the first wasn't horrible, I kind of seem him similar to Eisenhower in a lot of respects.

I'd agree with you, unfortunately, the party has really been hijacked, the good republican's are out there, but they can't get into the leadership of the party due to the social conservative wing.

I miss my "Rockefeller Republicans."
